The legal AI market is crowded and every vendor sounds the same. Contract review. E-discovery. Document drafting. Efficiency gains of 30-60%. Security certifications on the website.

The problem isn't finding options. It's knowing which claims to trust, which risks to actually worry about, and how to make a decision your partners will stand behind when a client asks what AI tools the firm is using.

Most firms stall here. Not because leadership doesn't want to move, but because nobody has a structured way to run the evaluation. So the committee debates, the demos blur together, and the firm either signs the wrong contract or signs nothing at all.

This workshop gives you the same ROI framework you'd use if you were building the tool yourself, applied to buying it. Because the only way to stress-test a vendor's claims is to run your own numbers before you sign anything.

Workshop Curriculum

What You'll Learn

Why Legal AI Procurement Goes Wrong

Horizontal tools that don't understand matters, vendors who can't answer questions about privilege handling, and business cases built on vendor-supplied ROI numbers. We'll break down the three patterns that lead to bad purchases and what firms that got it right did differently.

The Framework (4 Steps)

Map the workflow What's the actual problem you're solving? Contract review for which practice group, at what volume, integrated with which DMS? You can't evaluate a vendor's accuracy claims on a workflow you haven't mapped yourself.

Quantify your baseline Time x hourly rate x frequency = what this workflow actually costs the firm today. This is the number vendors should be improving against, not their benchmark datasets.

Stress-test the vendor's scenario Take their claimed efficiency gains and run them against your baseline. If a vendor claims 60% time savings on contract review, what does that actually mean for your matters, your volume, your associates? Realistic reduction, not demo conditions.

Build the business case Your numbers, not theirs. Per-seat cost vs. your baseline savings, payback period, pilot scope, and the one-pager that gets partners to approve a pilot rather than another evaluation cycle.

Live Walkthrough: Evaluating a Contract Review Tool

We'll take a real vendor evaluation scenario, run it through the framework, score the options, and build a partner-ready recommendation, live, with real numbers.

From Evaluation to Decision

You stop being the person who brings vendors to the partners meeting and start being the one who brings a decision. That's the difference between firms that are still evaluating in Q4 and firms that are running pilots.
